Day 1 May 28 New Orleans to NY
- Very early 7:45 breakfast with high school friends Mellon and Judy
- Weekend wedding extravaganza is now over
- Goodbyes to anyone who woke up and ended up in the lobby
- Call for Uber to NOLA airport, 2 minutes later it arrives
- Check our microscopic bag at the check-in desk
- Volunteer for gate check of baggage since we have one checked anyway
- Flight boards 9:00 instead of 9:40 so we leave early, that's a first
- Read my book 'Astoria' which is about 400 pages in book form but about 1200 pages in cell phone form
- So engrossed, missed all announcements and the flight.
- We are on the ground at JFK before I know it
- Make our way slowly to baggage claim
- Wait, wait, wait, the belt doesn't turn, no luggage
- Wait some more
- Finally, the belt turns on, now we're talking
- Wait some more
- Eventually 1 bag comes down then nothing
- Wait some more
- 4 bags come down
- Wait some more
- 6 bags come down
- When the whole batch finally starts to come down ours is in the beginning.
- I hate checking bags!
- Mike picks us up and before I know it, I have my great nephew sweet baby James in my arms
- Still errands to run
- Robin and I run around then relax with a Starbucks
- Her grocery store has a hand scanner you pick up on entry and scan all your groceries as you go so at checkout you just pay. Pretty cool.
- We return home and Ernie announces he had to change a really dirty diaper while we were gone (Mike doesn't do that)
- Robin changes James and sees his diaper is on backwards (We don't tell Ernie what he did, not after his good deed. Besides it isn't as bad as when my dad diapered Scott in a washcloth.)
- Unpack everything since I have a lot of NOLA items which aren't needed in Portugal
- Done for the night
